Boyd C. Broka was born Jan. 7, 1923 in Luckey, OH to father, Harold James Broka (1897 – 1953) and Mary A. (Thompson) Broka (1896 – 1966). He was one of two children born to Harold and Mary. His only sibling, sister, Imogene (Broka) Krift as of 2013 is still living in Pemberville, OH. Boyd married Ethel C. Fonseca on Oct. 1, 1945 in Azores, Portugal. Ethel C. Broka was born Mar 22, 1924. Boyd and Ethel had one child, Nina Lee (Broka) Oberkirsch.
Military records show Boyd enlisted in the service Jan. 18, 1943 as a USA Warrant officer. Cemetery records show PFC Boyd C. Broka served in the US Army Air corps during WWII. He was a member of the Webster American Legion Post No. 240.
Mr. Broka was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bowling Green, OH. He was a former president of the Luckey Kiwanis and Boy Scout Master. Boyd Broka’s appointment as a US Postmaster occurred on Mar. 22, 1955. He was the Postmaster for Luckey for 33 years. He was also former dispatcher for the Troy Volunteer Fire Department and former village councilman in Luckey.
Boyd died Dec. 14, 1998 and was buried in Troy Township Cemetery.
